4 Mistakes Travelers Make on Vacation

In all of this planning, the Arpin experts have also seen the ways vacationing has and hasn’t worked for our clients in the past. Though this can vary from person to person, there are a few common mistakes we want to help you avoid when getting ready for your next trip:

You over pack

We all do it. You think you need four bathing suits, three pairs of flip-flops, two sweatshirts, six dresses, and two pairs of pants just in case. Take the time to plan your outfits, but don’t get too hung up on your clothes. Pack the essentials and avoid the hassle of multiple bags getting to and from the airport.

You didn’t budget out spending money

Vacations are typically expensive, but many people often forget to also set aside money for spending, either on excursions or souvenirs. Take some time to create a spending amount for your travels, carry a little cash on you and, if possible, utilize cards. Cards can always be replaced but money cannot!

You’re dependent on your devices

This pertains to both work and social aspects. The idea of a vacation is to break away from some of the mundane tasks of your everyday life and focus on getting some serious R&R. We’re not saying to stop answering your friends and family checking in on you, but we are saying it’s okay to put down the phone and enjoy the moment.

You planned too many activities

We understand that when you’re experiencing a new place for the first time, you might be tempted to prepare as many activities as possible during your stay. We want you to reconsider! Vacationing should be fun, but vacationers often feel overwhelmed with their schedules when there is too much happening. Be sure to give yourself time to relax in different ways!
